How do the products work?

Arctic Heat products contain a special, non-toxic, completely biodegradable viscose gel that absorbs water. The materials used in the vest are designed to lower skin temperature, which in turn stabilizes the core body temperature. This allows a person to stay cool and sustain their peak performance levels for much longer. It also reduces sweating and assists the body's natural cooling system.

The vest is manufactured from scientifically tested and proven body-cooling materials - Sportwool, Microfibre and pockets of gel which are designed to hold any temperature for extended periods of time.

University tests indicate that the gel keeps it's temperature for up to 3 times longer than similar products.

With Arctic Heat you can have the product at whatever temperature you desire.

What can the products by used for?

Depending on the specific product, Arctic Heat products can be used for a variety of reasons. Arctic Heat vests can be used for both cooling and warming! They are a great benefit for improving athletic performance, increasing productivity in the workplace, assisting in the quality of life of people with medical conditions affected by heat and reducing the dangers of heat stress.

Severe dehydration and overheating can lead to heat exhaustion and potentially death from heat stroke. The Arctic Heat vest can be used in several ways to reduce the danger of Heat Stress.

Cooling During Activity: The lightweight and robust design of the vest allows it to be worn (in suitable sports, football, motor sports) during practice and under protective clothing during competition.

Pre-Event Cooling: The ice vests have been shown to help sustain performance over longer periods and postpone overheating, providing an advantage over competitors.

Recovery: The Arctic Heat Vest is a great way to help athletes recover during or post activity. The vest is used in many team sports during half time or time outs to help players recover quicker.

Arctic Heat products can be used for muscle strains, tears or pain that require the application of a cold or hot pack.

Activation 

The vest comes in crystal form. Initially soak in water for 10-15 minutes so crystals in pockets swell into gel form (pockets should be firm but not bursting). When removing from water, grab top and bottom of vest and gently twist in opposite directions or put vest in spin dry to remove excess water and hang until material is completely dry. Vest is now activated.

Vest must always be in activated (gel) state before being used. Once activated the vest can be placed in the refrigerator or freezer (not in plastic bag supplied). The vest can also be placed inside the resealable bag/satchel it was purchased in and placed on ice or in an ice water/slurry. The length of cooling time is subject to outside temperature and body heat considerations. As a guide if soaked in ice water/slurry for 1 - 3 minutes, the vest will stay cold for up to 30 minutes. If frozen it will stay cold for up to 2 hours. If the vest is stiff (frozen) when taken out of freezer, it is okay to snap the frozen gel pockets with your fingers.

If the crystal/gel pockets start to dehydrate and become flat, soak for 5 - 10 minutes so that the gel pockets properly swell again. If pockets return to crystal state simply repeat initial soak.

Whilst in activated (gel) state, the vest must be stored by hanging in a ventilated area. If wishing to store the vest for long periods, allow the vest to completely dehydrate (returning it to crystal), then hang in ventilated area. To re-activate, simply repeat initial soak.

Basic Care

To wash, simply hand wash in warm water with mild soap for 2 minutes and hang to dry. Occasionally beads of gel may appear on the vest after washing, this is not a fault simply wipe away with a cloth.

Back of vest has only top 3 panels filled with gel to keep cold away from Kidney area.

The vest weighs between 800gms to 1kg when correctly activated.

The vest can also be used warm/hot. Vest must be in activated state and placed in the Microwave Oven at 30 second intervals until the desired temperature is achieved. Heating times may vary according to wattage of microwave. It is IMPORTANT to check that vest is not too hot before wearing to avoid burns.
